The Boy (2016)

American Nanny Greta Evans (Lauren Cohan) begins work for the Heelshire's.  She (Diana Hardcastle) is cold, but motherly.  He (Jim Norton) is faithful.  But, just as sick.

On some level, Greta understands how it is to lose a child.  Hence, the fact that their son is a doll doesn't frighten her towards the hills and running.  Not at that point, anyway.

She and fellow co-worker Malcolm (Rupert Evans) go out for an evening.  Upon returning, she begins to consider that the boy is alive.  Soon after, paranormal meets monster movie and we almost lose interest.

Then, we realize that the script needed a diversion.  Even though the film was well-acted, something needed to change.  It did.
