Big Gin: T.G.I.F. Cocktail Recipes for February 5

Big Gin (94 proof) is a multi-award winning spirit and there are two varieties.  The first is simply Big Gin, which made its debut in 2012.  The second is Big Gin which has been resting in bourbon barrels for six months, prior to selling. No doubt, this is where it acquires its yellow-brown tint.

Big Gin has a citrus and spicy nose, though we are unable to discern specifics, excepting black pepper.  Its bold, full-bodied and has a delightfully spicy/heated finish.  It is stronger than the other Big Gin.

Big Gin bourbon barreled has a sweet and spicier nose.  It's not as strong-tasting as its predecessor.  It has a subtle strength.

Big Gin Sling

1 Oz Big Gin (also delicious with BOURBON BARRELED BIG GIN)
1 Oz Cherry Heering (or product)
1 Oz Bénédictine
1 Oz Fresh Lime Juice
2 Oz Soda Water
1 Dash Angostura bitters

Combine all ingredients except soda water and bitters in an ice-filled glass. Top with soda water. Stir briefly and dash with Angostura bitters. Garnish with a brandied
cherry & lime peel.

Big Martini (Greg Mays)

2 1/2 Oz Big Gin
Splash of Dry Vermouth
2 Dashes of Orange Bitters
Stir with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.  Garnish with an orange peel twist. 

Bourbon Barreled Old Fashioned

1 Bar Spoon Simple Syrup
3 Dashes Angostura bitters
2 1/2 Oz Bourbon Barreled Big Gin

Combine ingredients in an Old Fashioned glass. Add a few ice cubes or one large ice cube. Stir 30-40 times. Express oils of a large orange peel and stir the peel into the cocktail. Garnish additionally with a brandied cherry.

Hester Prim

2 Oz Bourbon Barreled Big Gin
1/2 Oz Mancino Secco
3 Dashes Angostura bitters

Combine ingredients in a mixing glass and stir well for 10-15 seconds. Strain in coupe and garnish with a lime wheel.

Mayfair Cocktail

1 Oz apricot brandy
1 Oz orange juice
1 Oz Bourbon Barreled Big Gin

Build the drink in a Collins glass, top with ice & soda water. Garnish with an orange peel.

The House G&T

1 1/2 Oz Big Gin or Bourbon Barreled Big Gin
¾ Oz House Tonic (here’s a favorite recipe:
3 Oz Soda or Seltzer

Build in a rocks glass or highball. Swizzle a bit before serving. Garnish with orange, lemon or lime--depending on the rations of your tonic syrup.

The Morning Paper

1 Oz Big Gin
1/2 Oz Elderflower Liquor
Splash of Your Favorite Sparkling
Splash of Grapefruit

Shake Big Gin and elderflower liquor.  Strain in a champagne flute.  Top with
sparkling and grapefruit juice.

Winter Reviver #2

1/2 Oz Fresh Lemon Juice
1/2 Oz Cocchi Americana Rosa (or similar, depending on taste)
1 Oz Orange Liqueur
1 Oz Big Gin
Slight Dash ofAabsinthe

Shake well with ice, strain over a large cube & garnish with an obnoxiously large lemon twist.
