Down a Dark Hall (2018)

The story involves a gaggle of passionate people. The teens have been in trouble before. Hence, they are sent to continue their education and to explore their gifts at Blackwood Boarding School, via head mistress Madame Duret (Uma Thurman). As it turns out, Duret's gift is to be in cahoots with spiritual beings. She then puts these spirits into contact with willing students, excepting one, who is defiant. The vessels then further the work of passed-on geniuses. This is Kit (AnnaSophia Robb). But, the genius drives them literally nuts. The only student willing to speak up is one who is only pseudo-troubled. The end result is almost just deserts.
