Because we scanned the table of contents and found a couple of points which vastly disagree with our own values/ideology/etc.

However, we long for pure insight, whether or not we are on board with the logic behind it at the time of reading.

While 50 Life Lessons for Grads really is aimed for college graduates, there is still enough wisdom therein to go around.
