The Two Make or Break Features of a Road Trip

Wanderlust strikes us all at some point. It comes to some of us naturally. For others, it is spurred on by others’ social media feeds. Who can help but feel the itch to travel when scrolling through acquaintances’ Facebook and Instagram feeds packed with fun vacation images? But that doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to do the exact same thing as everyone else seems to be doing. Just because other people follow the same beaten track of backpacking around Thailand, hiking the Inca trail, and pretending to stand on their friends on the Salt Flats, doesn’t mean that this will necessarily prove the most enjoyable and memorable trip for you. It’s important before traveling that you consider all of the options available to you, including more alternative options. So, for now, let’s take a look at road trips as a mean of getting away from your usual routine. Here’s a quick brief of two things that can make or break your trip: your transport and your company!
The Two Make or Break Features of a Road Trip

A Reliable Hire Car

First things first, you need to secure your means of getting from A to B. The answer to all of your problems and a solution for all your needs? Hiring a vehicle from a rental company. Some people plan to buy a cheap car and hit the road, selling it on to other travelers or individuals once they’re done with it. Sure, this might have a touch of romanticism to it. But there are various reasons that hire companies are a much better way to go. First, you can gain easy access to whatever vehicle you need. There’s convenient mini bus hire for larger groups, four by four hire for those who are apt to a little off-roading, and even motorcycle or buggy hire for the more adventurous amongst us. Second, the vehicle that you gain a hold of will be in good condition. It will be serviced and in great working order. This means that instead of spending hours broken down at the roadside, you can get on with your trip and the good times! Finally, you don’t need to worry about selling the motor after. You can simply return the car rather than either not being able to find a buyer or selling up cheap and losing a whole lot of cash.
The Two Make or Break Features of a Road Trip

A Compatible Travel Partner

Sure, traveling alone can be confidence boosting and eye-opening. But travel partners really can come in handy for a variety of reasons. You get to share your experiences with someone, have company, can share driving responsibilities, and take some brilliant photos of one another in stunning locations. So, if you’re going to travel with someone, you need to make sure that you’re compatible. There’s no use going away with someone you barely know. Sure, it may be a bonding experience. But you could find within a couple of hours that you really rub one another up the wrong way. Instead, choose someone you know and trust to share the adventure of a lifetime with!
The Two Make or Break Features of a Road Trip

These, of course, are just a couple of things you will want to find before booking your tickets and disappearing into the sunset as a traveler. But they are two of the main components that can make or break your trip, so choose wisely!

Haters Back Off!

Haters Back Off! Is a 16-episode Netflix series which only lasted for two-seasons. We have been binge-watching this show for the past 2-3 days, ever since having signed up with Netflix again. We try to schedule our re-signs in accordance with new Orange is the New Black seasons.

Haters Back Off! We love the silliness and the seemingly endless well of denial in which the Colleen Ballinger (Miranda) resides. Known for a thick sometimes-circular shape of mis-marked, loud lipstick, slumped shoulders and the ability to manipulate most members of her nuclear unit, she is only more remarkable for her mean-spirited quips and retorts.

What a shame, we do not have the opportunity to be dumbfounded by her incredible sense of entitlement, her ability to walk into almost any crowd and take over and the chances that she has to hurt those nearest to her.

Did we mention that she thinks she's talented? Oh my! No. No. She is not.

Oh, and in the event that you did not know, those popsicles that Miranda slurps and burps her way to brain freeze with are called, "Froze Toes."

Criticizing Art Pieces

To understand the quality or success of a visual painting's intention, one should recognize the importance of the style or movement of the piece. All forms of art can be extremely personal to a singular audience. Due to this idiosyncrasy, it would be nearly impossible to determine the best painting ever created. This fact can be observed in almost all forms of media. The quality of a painting cannot be determined by its value or fame.

Criticizing Art Pieces
American Gothic
Therefore, in order to properly critique a painting, a critic must understand the artist's intentions. A good method of organizing this critique is to adhere to the four steps of critiquing a painting or piece of art.

The Four Steps of Critiquing a Painting or Piece

Identify the artist or artists; The name of the painting; The date it was painted; The size of the work; What it was painted with and what it was painted on; The movement the artist followed; Key historical, social, and political events that occurred during the creating of the work.

Collect facts and clues only. Describe every visual as is presence in the piece.

What elements-line, shape, form, space, texture, value, color-dominate the work? How is the work arranged?

Based on the clues collected in the description, what could this painting or sculpture be about? Explain what ideas, moods, emotions, and stories the artwork is trying to communicate.

Also consider the element of purpose—both functional purpose and creative. Determining purpose is important; a structure intended as a home, for example, is not created for the same purpose as a mausoleum.

Judgment: Is this work successful. Why or why not?

Examine the question of success in relation to the intended interacting audience and the architecture's aesthetic value in the environment. If a structure is intended t be a transport path, it may function properly but add no aesthetic value to the environment; one could argue that this piece of architecture is not successful.

A critic must determine what would entertain him/her in particular, and evaluate whether the viewed program met those criteria.

Once the four-step critique process discussed in past lectures has been completed, the critic should address the intention of the program and then add his/her perceived value. Television is a medium or art that must be derived from success of intention.

Money Mistakes You Can Avoid

We all make mistakes. However, when it comes to our finances, it’s good to make as few mistakes as possible. In fact, if you can learn from the errors others have made so that you do not make them yourself, even better! With that being said, read on to discover some of the most common money mistakes you need to avoid.

Money Mistakes You Can Avoid

Borrowing Money Without Knowing What You're in For

This is one of the biggest mistakes people make when it comes to money. They take out a loan without understanding the consequences. When you search for cash loans near me online, you need to be aware of the APR, how much you need to pay back per month, when the repayments start, when they end, any penalties you could be subject to, and hidden expenses, for example, early repayment fees.

Not Checking Your Credit Score

It is vital to check your credit score on a regular basis. You need to be aware of what your score is, as well as the different factors that influence it. For example, did you know the average age of your credit cards will impact your score? Or, any credit applications you have made within the last six months will impact your score? By keeping on top of your report, you will know which improvements you need to make.

Failing to Budget

It does not matter what your current financial situation is; you need to budget effectively. If you don’t, you will undoubtedly be spending more money than you realize. Budgeting is simple, and it enables you to make the most of your money. All you need is a simple spreadsheet with your incomings and outgoings, which will show you how much you have left over each month.

Not Thinking About the Future

It can be difficult to think about your financial future when you have so many other things to think about right now. However, if you don’t start planning for your retirement today, you will only make life a lot more difficult for yourself. Start saving today and you will reap the rewards of compound interest.

Seeing Insurance as an Unnecessary Expense

Last but not least, another financial mistake a lot of people make is viewing insurance as an unnecessary expense. Yes, you will need to pay monthly premiums, but this could save you a fortune later down the line. Of course, you don’t need every type of insurance plan under the sun; it depends on your individual situation. But, life insurance, building and content insurance, and income protection are widely considered the most important.

If you can avoid the mistakes that have been discussed above, you can give yourself the best chance of having a successful financial future. From checking your credit score to educating yourself about the different types of borrowing, a few simple steps can go a long way.

Sticky No Slip Phone Holder & Mat. OffiCreative

This item is really super sticky. But, not in a gross or bad way. You don't have to walk away with a slimy residue on your mitts for having dealt with it.
No Slip
No SlipThis is good for us who prefer clean hands!

Just lay it down where you want it to be and know that unless you clean the surface before lying it down that it won't be picked up with some dirty unhappiness.

This is good for me, as I am usually lying my phone on my desk for charging. I know that I will invariably pull it right onto the floor. I know that it doesn't have a long way to fall and this has never damaged the phone thus far.

However, why tempt fate?

The mat is just a hair smaller than my iPhone5. But, there are no problems with this. It is simply worthy of note.

Also, I didn't really notice until I started working with the attached images. But, there are a couple of bumpy protrusions jutting out on the left side. These are really small and can be shaved off in a tidy manner, due to material used to create this item.

Right now, the mat is going for $8.99 from the Amazon link below.

Tips For Traveling On A Tight Budget

With the current economic climate and the consumerist society we live in, it can sometimes be difficult to get your finances in order enough to have a disposable income that will stretch to achieve your travel dreams. Of course, it is always advisable that you travel whilst you are young and have no limitations, fewer responsibilities and your physical health on your side. Although you may not have money on your side, here are some tips for saving money whilst you travel, so you don’t have to hold off on ticking a few places off of your travel bucket list.

Tips For Traveling On A Tight Budget
Reevaluate Your Accommodation

If you are struggling for money to travel, your accommodation should be the first thing you decide to scrimp on. In reality, the only reason you need accommodation is to have somewhere to rest your head at night after a long day. There are now pod hotels, Airbnb and hostels that can help you to cut down on your sleeping costs. Be honest, if your dream is to see the world - you are hardly going to achieve that by spending time in a luxury hotel room, and what is the point in paying out for one if you’re hardly going to be in it? The alternative is to look for apartment options for your accommodation - this will be especially beneficial to your finances if you are traveling for a prolonged period of time. Having an apartment where you can cook your own food will save you a lot of money, as you are not paying premium prices in tourist destination restaurants for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Evaluate how long you want to to be traveling for, and what type of accommodation will save you the most money. A short trip when you’ll want to see as much as possible - the former. A long trip where you’ll want a few days to rest in between all the sightseeing - the latter.

First off, it is important to research any options that may be cheaper to your first call of transport. For example: if you are based in the UK, getting the Eurostar to Paris will be cheaper than flying. Once you’re sure you’re going with the cheapest transport available to you, see what the difference in price is to booking early and booking last minute. Sometimes there is a premium on booking early or late depending on the company - and you’ll want to go with the cheaper of the two. If you are getting to your destination by flying, looking into the best airline credit card could help to offset come of the overall travel cost, and you could be rewarded with air miles depending on how much you spend. Air miles can be put towards your future travels and save you further expenses, so they are worth looking into.

As well as the above, choosing a cheaper destination on your bucket list like Krakow or Croatia, rather than the tourist-attracting cities like London, Copenhagen, and Paris will help to significantly reduce your overall travel expenditure. Making well-informed choices around that destination could lead to a much cheaper holiday than you first anticipated - and if you end up saving a substantial amount - your second getaway won’t be too far in the future. It’s a win-win.

LifeBasis 100-120V 60Hz (CD-7920)

If you were to do a quick visual scan of the LifeBasis website, you might wonder if they were a new company. Some of the internal links don't divulge anything. But, we tested one of the cleaners today and really like it.

Received: (1) 100-120V 60Hz (CD-7920)

LifeBasis 100-120V 60Hz (CD-7920)This is a neat, little contraption to have. We used the cleaner this morning. Combs were our target.

This DIGITAL ULTRASONIC CLEANER has an extensive user guide book in several languages. These are easy to use and seem very complete. Thank goodness!

This outfit arrives with a tank with an ultrasonic cleaner, a digital timer with different applications and settings for different types of objects being cleaned and a LED blue light.

Visually, this is an attractive tank with an attached cover and a basket to place your items into. The LED window lights up during the cleansing process. Just fill the tank water without the basket in. Fill it to minimum or maximum level.

LifeBasis 100-120V 60Hz (CD-7920)When the unit is done, the timer counts down to 0. Unplugged the cleaner. Pour out remaining water and there you go.

We really wanted to use this for our hair brushes. But, this model is too small. Still, we are glad to have it. Many items are cleansed in an ultrasonic environment. That's what makes these so awesome to have. The company ships all over for free too.

Energy Healing with the Kabbalah: Integrating Ancient Jewish Mysticism with Modern Energetic Practices

5 of 5 stars

Energy Healing with the Kabbalah (Energy Healing) is divided into three parts;
Energy Healing with the Kabbalah
  • Background - Describes the foundational concepts of kabbalah and the anatomy of energy
  • Practices - Focuses on the maintenance of balance in relationships and in the individual
  • Healing - Hands on positions for healing self and others

If you've ever felt for yourself the healing energies of reiki, you would understand our fascination with this book. These are subtle energies. However, they work. Now, we learn that kabbalah has healing energies? Oh, yes. We have to know more.

Kabbalahistic history is rich and poetic. It's beautiful even. However, we would be remiss if we didn't admonish anyone interested in adding these energies to one's healing repertoire. Ground and protect yourself and try not to deviate from states norms.

About the Author:

Devi Stern, MS, EEM, AP (Chicago, IL) has a master’s degree in biology from Northeastern Illinois University. She’s also a certified Eden Energy Medicine practitioner and instructor as well as a Reiki master. She studied Jewish/Kabbalistic healing in seminary and privately with healer Rabbi Dr.

Douglas Goldhamer. Devi also trained in Kabbalistic Healing for many years with Dr. Jodi Prinzivalli.

The Veil: An Invitation to the Unseen Realm. Blake K. Healy

5 of 5 stars

As a society, we place a tremendous amount of value on those with a clear view through the veil. Some hide their fascination, lest we be ridiculed and name called. Sighing...some critics never grow up.

The VeilWhat Healy sees is something that we all can see, if we desire. In The Veil, he tells us what he sees, how he sees it and how we can foster such vision. As an empath of a few years, we still do not have a clear vision, most of the time. Hence, the fascination.

If this resonates with you, you might want to check this out for yourself. The Veil is an easy and a wildly interesting read. It draws you in for a read. Then, releases you when it's time for a bathroom run.

If there's a best part of The Veil, it's the perspective. We will not ruin that for you. But, it's solid.

Pitch Perfect 3: Review and Quotes

Pitch Perfect 3 comes pretty close to being our favorite of all three. Yes, we understand that we might be alone with our thinking and that is just fine. We will handle.

Granted, the first was the best for humor. But, the passion, the energy, the plot and time lines and the music were unmatched. Unmatched, we state!

We won't spoil anything in the event that you have yet to see it. It was outstanding though. Aca-riffic.

You're Sleeping on Your Mattress Wrong

Sleep is very important for your body and regardless of how healthy you eat, if you don’t take care of you sleeping schedule you won’t see any improvement. Being healthy is an effort on several fronts so, just like you take care of your physical activity and food, you should also take care of your sleep. And, while there are a lucky few out there that can simply put their head down and fall asleep, over 35% of the American population is chronically tired. This happens because most of us don’t really know what a good night sleep is and we tend to postpone our slumber time until well after midnight.

To make sure we get things right, I talked with sleep experts from try mattress and learned how to fix the mistakes you’re doing right now.

You're Sleeping on Your Mattress Wrong
Image via DieterRobbins
#1: You follow the Rules

Yes, rules are there for a reason, but when it comes to sleep, you have to toss the rules aside and find out what works for you. For instance, specialists recommend 7 to 8 hours of sleep, but if you still have a hard time waking up and you feel groggy during the day, you should try sleeping more. The same thing happens when you have a sleep tracking device. If the device says you’ve slept enough, it’s not necessarily true for you. Check with your body and see what works – this is the only rule to follow!

#2: You Bought the Wrong Mattress

The mattress is extremely important for your sleep quality because it is the surface that accommodates your body. If the surface creates pressure points (usually happens with hard mattresses) then you’ll wake up with shoulder and/or hip pain which is totally unpleasant. On the other hand, if the surface is too soft, it may OK at first, but it will quickly sag and create body indentations in time.

The most recommended type of mattress is a type of foam (memory foam or latex) or natural fibers in general. These are elastic so they maintain their shape while also accommodating your body.

#3: Your Sleeping Position is Not Okay For You

We all have a favorite sleeping position but it’s not always the best for us. For instance, almost half of the world population sleeps on their side, but there are several variations (sleeping on the right or left side, sleeping in the fetus position, sleeping like a log, and so on). Out of these, the most recommended is sleeping on your left side. This allows organs on the right to take a break during the night and keeps the blood and lymph flowing correctly.

Still, sleeping on the side is not the best position; sleeping on your back is. This position doesn’t put pressure on any internal organs and keeps the spine well-aligned. It’s also great for the circulatory system and for your general well-being while sleeping.

Finally, the worst position is on your stomach. Besides the fact that there will be pressure on all the vital internal organs, you also create a weird misalignment between the neck and the rest of the spine. Even more, women have more difficulty sleeping in this position because of the breasts.

#4: Temperature Control

There are two types of temperature settings we need to discuss: the temperature n the room and the temperature in your mattress. The temperature in the room should be somewhere around 18 - 20°C because we sleep better in a colder environment. The same goes with the mattress – if it sleeps hot (like some memory foams do) you won’t be able to rest during the night.

Sacred Rest: Recover Your Life, Renew Your Energy, Restore Your Sanity

5 of 5 stars

We were attracted to this book, simply considering its title. There are many aspects of our lives which are sacred. Yet, we do not think about it.

Also, who amongst is well rested? Not this beleaguered writer. You?

Sacred Rest is divided into three parts;
  • Why Rest?
  • The Gifts of Rest
  • The Promises of Rest

We learn from the, "How to Use This Book," section that Doctor Dalton-Smith intentionally penned this piece to be taken in smaller portions, for those who are busy. She goes into further details as to getting the most of out Sacred Rest. She ends this missive with the encouragement that you pick out what speaks to you.

We like Sacred Rest because it is sometimes funny, seriously deep and easy to consume. Beautiful. Important.

How Does The Savvy Traveler Stay Healthy In India?

If India has been on your bucket list for a while, it’s time to make the most of the January sale to book your ticket for a trip that will broaden your horizon and open up your mind. As a general rule of the thumb, the best time to visit India is from October to March. However, it’s a large country so it can be helpful to define exactly where you want to go before you book your ticket. If you’re planning to climb on the Himalayas, you should avoid December and January when the alpine foothills are the coldest, and June to September when the area is too wet to enjoy. If you want to see Kolkata, the best season is from October to January as it is too hot and wet the rest of the year. Mumbai stays dry and warm until May, which makes it a popular destination. In short, you need to do your research before you book to avoid bad weather. But the weather is only one of the elements to consider. India is a tropical country that has a very different sanitary level from what you’re used to. You need to prepare your plan to stay healthy during your Indian holiday.

Image via Wikimedia
What Are The Risks of Indian Travel?

Geographically, India is extremely varied. Consequently, you will encounter a variety of health risks, depending on the area you visit. Hygiene is poor in most regions, which makes water-borne diseases common. In tropical areas, you need to take precautions against insect-borne diseases. Consult recommendations before you leave, as you will have to plan up to 6 weeks for your vaccinations. Additionally, you should never drink water from a tap or consume food that hasn’t been skinned or peeled – as the exposure to dirty water is dangerous. And finally, it’s best to avoid rural areas where insect bites such as ticks and lice are common.

Healthy Mind, Too

Once you’ve ensured your physical health, you can fully embrace the healing power of Indian holiday. Indeed, you will find a lot of meditation spots across the country, and you can even join a meditation center to explore your spiritual place in the world. If this is too much for you, you might prefer the cultural diversity of Kochi, where the Chinese, Jewish, Christian and Indian spiritualities meet. Here, you can relax in the swimming pool of the Courtyard Kochi Airport hotel while you think of the local and peaceful spiritual display in town. India is, after all, the place of mindful yogis.

The Essentials, Everywhere in The World

Don’t let the poor hygiene conditions frighten you. With the right preparation, India is a safe country for visitors, assuming you stick to the recommendations. Ultimately, foreign countries are likely to present a health risk if their environment is not something you’re used to. That’s precisely why you need to do your research before booking to know what medications you’re allowed to carry, what vaccines you need, and what the weather’s like.

In the end, the savvy traveler follows only three rules in India. He gets his vaccines in advance. He doesn’t consume tap water. And, last but not least, he lets his mind explore the magic of the Indian mindfulness.

28 Hotel Rooms (2012): Synopsis and Quotes

A man and a woman, who's first and last names we don't know, meet while on business. They stay together that first nite and 28 nites subsequent to that.

Man is played by Chris Messina and he falls in love with Woman (Marin Ireland), who is in a relationship with another man.

The way the story ends, one would surmise that the sleep-overs continue indefinitely.

This is not a movie for a younger audience.

Man: Did you ever break-dance?

Go back to your husband.

I like your laugh.

I love those bony hips.

I love your eyes.

I love your moles.

Who's the first person you ever kissed?

Man: Would you rather be eaten by a shark or die in an earthquake?

You got any brothers or sisters?

Woman: I can't do this right now.

I can't stay.

I love him. I think.

I'm not leaving him.

It's just a book.

Moments4MeFrance M4MF runs on positivity with a focus on the end user. Founder Adda de Vaulchier encourages the potential customer to take care of themselves. To be kind. Even the letter, penned by de Vaulchier, which accompanied product was uplifting.

(1) Rejuvenating Face Mask (For All Skin Types)

We applied the mask to a clean face. Then, we smoothed it down and kept it on for twenty minutes. It felt so wonderful as the skin absorbed the Aloe Vera and hyaluronic acid. This left our face very soft, smooth and less wrinkled!

This is a lovely product. It can be purchased from this venue.
