Tent City, U.S.A.: Documentary

Tent City is one of the best and most interesting documentaries ever.

Tent City is about a group of homeless people, of varying numbers, who reside in a self-made community in Nashville, Tennessee. As you can imagine, there are plenty of hard-luck stories and hardships.

Tent City, U.S.A.: Documentary 1You pretty much know that this is what you will see before you press, "Play." However, what you probably did not realize was that you were also getting a realistic view of human spirit. As one who has never met a homeless person, much less talked to one, curiosity abounded.

Tent City sated that curiosity. The homeless are no different than you and I, excepting that they have no home. Scary, huh?

One aspect of homelessness that was brought up by the documentary is the fact that most members of the homeless community are disenfranchised from others. Loners, take heed!

Bama: This is our house.

MacGuyver: I'm not trying to be a nuisance to society, or anything like that. I'm just trying to survive.

Stacy: Being homeless is never where I thought I'd be.
Tent City, U.S.A.: Documentary 2
Tee Tee: They're crying out for our help.

Wendell: A camp like this is community.

Wendell: People have built something out of nothing.
